The following is the latest (October 8th) survey conducted by our website on the production and market situation of cassava and starch in Thailand, for your analysis and reference:
1. Fresh potato supply: The market volume of fresh potatoes continues to increase, and the supply of fresh potato raw materials in starch factories continues to improve;
2. Fresh potato quality: The overall quality is normal, the sand and mud are moderate, the powder content is stable, and the Korat is 23.5-24.5% (+0.5);
3. Fresh potato prices: Kelat Dong 2.55-3.35 (high+0.0) Kongjing 2.35-3.25 (high+0.0) (baht/KG);
4. Start up factories: As of October 9th, 72 factories have started up, accounting for 70% of the total, an increase of 4.0 percentage points compared to the previous month;
5. Production situation: The raw materials continue to increase, with a production capacity of about 54% and a powder yield of 23.5-24.5% (+0.5 percentage points);
6. Market situation: Factory inventory is still increasing on a weekly basis, and the domestic cassava starch market in Thailand is showing a stable but slightly declining trend;
7. Domestic powder prices: Last weekend, regular prices were between 16.0-16.2 (-0.2), while high-quality prices were between 16.4-16.6 (-0.2) (baht/KG);
8. Bangkok exports: regular products 465-475 (-0) and high-quality products 480-490 (-0) (FOB USD/ton) last weekend;
9. Other situations: Currently, starch factories in Thailand have entered normal production and their output will continue to increase;
Overall, last week, in terms of production, starch production continued to increase compared to the previous week, while finished product inventory also increased (sample value). In terms of exports, influenced by factors such as the rebound in raw material powder content and the decline in prices, as well as the recovery of demand in the Chinese market, the export market of Thai starch is in a fluctuating and wait-and-see trend. The latest average price of sampled brands is reported to be flat (FOB -0 USD/ton for ordinary products in Bangkok). At the same time, the actual offshore volume of starch exports (to China) continues to shrink compared to last week.
