Latest (12.18) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Vietnam

        Last week, first of all, in terms of production, as of December 17th, there were about 115 starch factories in operation (week on week+4), and starch production continued to increase on a week on week basis. The supply of raw materials continues to increase compared to the previous week, and the price of potatoes remains stable with some decline; At present, the average production time per week in starch factories is 6.5 days (+0.0 days compared to last week); The purchase prices for fresh potato raw materials are as follows: 2700-2800 VND/kg in the southern region (compared to last week's -20 VND/KG, local potatoes, with a 30% reduction in flour content), 2500-2600 VND/kg in the central region (compared to last week's -30 VND/KG, with a 30% reduction in flour content), and 2180-2280 VND/kg in the northern region (compared to last week's -20 VND/KG, raw potatoes). Secondly, in terms of the market, due to factors such as the continued increase in starch production and insufficient sales, the export market of cassava starch in Vietnam has maintained a fluctuating downward trend, with prices still reporting a significant drop. The latest quotes for mainstream brands are (Qingdao Port CIF): low-end products 335-345 (-15), ordinary products 355-365 (-15), and high-quality products 375-385 (-15) (USD/ton).
