Latest (1.15) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Vietnam

Last week, first of all, in terms of production, as of January 14th, there were about 99 starch factories in operation (week on week -10), and starch production continued to decline compared to the previous week. The supply of raw materials has slightly decreased compared to the previous week, and potato prices are fluctuating and waiting to be seen; At present, the average production time per week in starch factories is 6.0 days (compared to last week -0.2 days); The purchase prices for fresh potato raw materials are as follows: 2450-2550 Vietnamese dong/kg in the southern region (compared to last week's -0 dong/KG, local potatoes, discounted by 30% flour content), 2350-2450 Vietnamese dong/kg in the central region (compared to last week's -0 dong/KG, discounted by 30% flour content), and 2030-2130 Vietnamese dong/kg in the northern region (compared to last week's -0 dong/KG, original potatoes). Secondly, in terms of the market, due to the combined impact of many starch factories temporarily shutting down to resist the decline in starch prices and the increased demand in the Chinese market before the holiday, the export market of cassava starch in Vietnam has shown a mild rebound trend, with prices reporting a slight increase. The latest quotes for mainstream brands are (Qingdao Port CIF): low-end products 330-340 (+5), ordinary products 345-355 (+0), and high-quality products 365-375 (-0) (USD/ton).
