Brazil's summer corn harvest increases to 2.3%

Conab, the national supply company, has released weekly monitoring data for Brazilian crops and updated the developmental stages of corn crops harvested in the summer of 2024/25.

In the first harvest of the 2024/25 cycle, the sowing work advanced from 83.1% in the previous week to 87.1% as of January 12th.

This level is consistent with 87.1% recorded during the same period of harvesting on 23/24. The states where summer planting has ended include Goias, Minas Gerais, S ã o Paulo, Paran á, and Santa Catarina (100%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul (94%), Bahia (83%), Pio í (60%), and Maranh ã o (40%).

At the same time, the harvesting work in these areas has been advancing, with a crop harvest rate of 2.3%, higher than last week's 1.1%, but still lower than the 6.8% of the same period in 2024.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the harvesting work is progressing smoothly and productivity is good. However, due to the drought that has occurred since November, productivity may decrease as operations continue. In Paran á, dry weather is conducive to maturity but harms development in other areas, "the department pointed out.

Conab technicians also stated that 4.3% of the planting area is still in the emergency stage, 35.7% has entered the nutritional development stage, 15.5% is in the flowering stage, 24.9% is in the filling stage, and 17.3% has entered the mature stage.
