Latest (2.12) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Vietnam
Last week, first of all, in terms of production, as of February 11th, there were about 87 starch factories in operation (week on week+31), and starch production continued to rebound on a week on week basis; The supply of raw materials has increased significantly compared to the previous week, and potato prices are showing a fluctuating and wait-and-see trend. At present, the average production time per week in starch factories is 5.7 days (+0.2 days compared to last week); The purchase prices for fresh potato raw materials are as follows: 2350-2450 VND/kg in the southern region (30% off flour content compared to last week's -0 VND/KG for local potatoes), 2270-2370 VND/kg in the central region (30% off flour content compared to last week's -0 VND/KG), and 1980-2080 VND/kg in the northern region (30% off flour content compared to last week's -0 VND/KG for raw potatoes). Secondly, in terms of the market, due to factors such as lower than expected post holiday demand in the Chinese market and increased port inventory, the export market of cassava starch in Vietnam has maintained a volatile and wait-and-see trend, with prices reporting a slight increase. The latest quotes for mainstream brands are (Qingdao Port CIF): low-end products 333-343 (+3), ordinary products 348-358 (+3), and high-quality products 368-378 (+3) (USD/ton).
