Latest (3.5) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Vietnam

Last week, first of all, in terms of production, as of April 4th, there were about 91 starch factories in operation (week on week -2), and starch production remained roughly unchanged on a week on week basis; The supply of raw materials is relatively stable, and the overall price of potatoes maintains a fluctuating downward trend. At present, the average production time per week in starch factories is 5.5 days (compared to last week -0.1 days); The purchase prices for fresh potato raw materials are as follows: 2300-2400 VND/kg in the southern region (compared to last week's -50 VND/KG, local potatoes, with a 30% reduction in flour content), 2220-2320 VND/kg in the central region (compared to last week's -50 VND/KG, with a 30% reduction in flour content), and 1910-2010 VND/kg in the northern region (compared to last week's -50 VND/KG, raw potatoes). Secondly, in terms of the market, due to factors such as insufficient production of downstream starch factories in China and continuous increase in port inventory, the export market of cassava starch in Vietnam has maintained a stable but slightly declining trend, with prices reporting a slight decline. The latest quotes for mainstream brands are (Qingdao Port CIF): low-end products 320-330 (-5), ordinary products 335-345 (-5), and high-quality products 355-365 (-5) (USD/ton).
