The following is the latest (April 8th) survey conducted by our website on the production and market situation of cassava and starch in Thailand, for your analysis and reference:

1. Fresh potato supply: The market volume of fresh potatoes in various production areas remains stable with some decline, which can still meet the basic needs of starch factories;

2. Fresh potato quality: The overall quality is good, with moderate sand and mud, and a consistent flour content of 23.5-24.5% (-0.0);

3. Fresh potato prices: Kolat Dong 1.85-2.30 (high -0.05) Kongjing 1.70-2.05 (-0.1) (baht/KG);

4. Starting factories: As of April 8th, there were 85 starting factories, accounting for 82.5% of the total, a decrease of 1.9 percentage points compared to the previous month;

5. Production situation: Stable supply of raw materials, production capacity of about 86%, powder yield of 23.5-24.5% (-0.0 percentage points);

6. Market situation: Factory inventory is still increasing on a weekly basis, and the cassava starch market in Thailand is showing a fluctuating downward trend;

7. Domestic powder prices: Last weekend, the regular price was 12.5-12.7 (-0.2), and the high-quality price was 12.8-13.0 (-0.3) (baht/KG);

8. Bangkok exports: Regular products 375-385 (-5) and high-quality products 395-405 (-5) (FOB USD/ton) last weekend;

9. Other situations: Currently, cassava raw materials in Thailand can still meet the needs of starch production, and starch factories are operating normally;

Overall, last week, in terms of production, starch production decreased compared to the previous week, while finished product inventory still increased (sample value). In terms of exports, affected by weak demand in the Chinese market and the Qingming Festival holiday, the export market of Thai starch is currently fluctuating and falling. The latest average price of sampled brands closed with a slight decline (FOB Bangkok ordinary product - $5/ton). At the same time, the actual offshore volume of starch exports (to China) has shrunk significantly compared to last week.
