Small cassava, linking the "wealth chain" of rural revitalization in Dongcheng Town

In recent years, the cassava industry in Dongcheng Town has continued to make efforts, and the planting scale has been continuously expanded. A complete industrial chain covering planting, processing, cold chain, and sales has reached a considerable scale. Not only that, the base provides free cassava seedlings and planting technology guidance to farmers in surrounding villages, and repurchases them when harvested, which has truly boosted farmers' "wallets" and contributed to the revitalization of rural industries.

Entering the cassava plantation in Dongcheng Town, the roar of the cassava harvester plays the music of a bountiful harvest, with large and plump cassava breaking through the soil. Villagers shuttle through the fields, busy collecting, packing, and transporting cassava, their faces filled with joy of harvest. The cassava fields are a bustling scene of labor.

The company has been planting cassava in Dongcheng Town for several years. Currently, it has planted more than 2000 acres of cassava in several villages such as Zhaijiao Village, Wenbai Village, Pingdi Village, and Liren Village. The selected cassava seedlings are high-quality varieties developed by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences - South China No. 9. "Wang Wenjie, the general manager of Hainan Chenlai Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., introduced that currently, cassava in some villages is entering the harvest season, and since February 13th, about 15 tons of cassava have been produced successively. These cassava products are sold well in Guangxi, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other places through two methods: direct shipping fresh goods and vacuum packaging after peeling, with strong market demand and promising prospects.

It is reported that in order to further improve the edible cassava industry chain, with the assistance of Dongcheng Town Government, the company has introduced a fully automated cassava flour deep processing equipment designed by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences. When the equipment is in full operation, it can process 30 tons of cassava flour per day. At the same time, the supporting cold storage provides a guarantee for the storage of fresh cassava. At this point, the complete industrial chain loop from planting, processing to warehousing and sales has been formed, attracting many foreign agricultural enterprises to visit and inspect. The government of Dongcheng Town also actively guides the company to register the "Dandong" brand trademark, enhance the brand influence of cassava products, and give Dongcheng Town's cassava industry more advantages in market competition, paving a unique path for rural revitalization.

It is reported that in recent years, while promoting industrial development, the government of Dongcheng Town has not forgotten to increase the income of villagers, organize poverty-stricken households and monitoring households to participate in technical training such as soil cultivation and pest control, so that they can master a specific skill. Nowadays, many villagers work in cassava planting bases at their doorstep, earning over 100 yuan per day.
