8月28日上午,塞拉利昂木薯培训班在中国热带农业科学院热带作物品种资源研究所(简称品资所)开班。15位来自塞拉利昂农业部门的学员将在品资所进行为期10天的木薯加工技术学习。 负责培训塞方学员的品资所,将从木薯品种选育到加工的全过程、木薯生产加工中机械操作等对塞方学员进行培训。
木薯是塞拉利昂第二大粮食作物,但其生产方式传统、落后。2006年两国领导人会谈时,塞方请求我国在粮食安全上继续为其提供帮助,我国答应其请求并专门派专家赴塞考察,并提议为塞方培训木薯方面的技术人才,帮助提高塞拉利昂的木薯生产和产业发展水平。
