巴西国家商品供应公司(Conab)周四表示，巴西2007/08年度新玉米产量预计为5180万吨，符合10月4日报告预估的5180-5280万吨区间，2006/07年度巴西玉米实际产量为5130万吨。
巴西一年播种两次玉米，目前是南美的春季，为冬玉米主要播种期。
多数巴西玉米农户同样种植大豆，由于部分产区天气干旱，大豆开始播种的时间较晚，导致冬玉米目前难以展开播种。因此Conab本月将冬玉米产量预估下调至1450万吨，去年同期为1470万吨。
巴西玉米是仅次于大豆的第二大农作物品种，不过玉米需求多数在国内，预计巴西
2006/07年度玉米出口约为800-1000万吨。
