安定区是“中国马铃薯之乡”。截至目前，该区共有万吨级精淀粉加工生产线和全粉、变性淀粉、薯条生产线12条，年生产能力近20万吨。当日投产的两条生产线，是安定区引进荷兰豪威公司先进设备进行技术升级改造的项目。定西薯峰有限责任公司的生产线，可年产3万吨马铃薯变性淀粉，配套生产3万吨精淀粉。定西宏煊淀粉制品有限责任公司新上的生产线可年产3万吨精淀粉，配套生产3000吨水晶粉丝，达产达标后年可实现销售收入1.7亿元，利润1000万元，上缴税金850万元。
