6月14日，中国驻泰国大使管木赴泰国乌汶府出席了泰国UBON BIO ETHANOL（UBE）公司木薯酒精项目奠基仪式。该项目由中国科学院直属企业——东方科学仪器进出口集团有限公司提供设备，广东中科天元新能源科技有限公司负责承建，总投资额30亿铢。项目采用当地优势资源——木薯生产工业酒精，建成后日产量可达40万升，产品部分将出口中国。项目投产后可带动当地木薯种植25万莱（约合60万亩），将产生良好的经济和社会效益。
