强风暴雨容易造成高大繁茂的木薯植株发生倒伏，薯块断裂。在淹水、土壤粘重和薯块受伤的条件下，薯块易腐烂。倒伏歪斜的茎枝抽生新枝条消耗营养，还有薯块裂伤等都会严重影响后期薯块膨大，导致减产。另外，倒伏的主茎很快抽生新芽，难以作为种茎。
救灾措施：一、及早排除积水，降低地下水位。二、清除断茎和枝条。三、凡植株倒伏严重，薯块断裂较多，应提早收获，把薯切片晒干作饲料。四、植株歪斜，薯虽露出地表，但只有薯头部位轻裂，可把外露薯块轻压入土中，稍为扶正茎干，如难扶正，可挖浅坑和削除部分茎叶，使植株能挺起即可，培土压紧。切忌强力扶压，损伤薯块。五、仅植株歪斜和薯块松动，则视情况培土扶正，或随其自然。
