近年来，该农场根据市场需求，加大了对原有农业结构的调整力度，在提高单位土地面积的产出率上做文章，大力推行木薯、剑麻套种南瓜的种植模式。2008年，该场木薯、剑麻种植面积约7000亩，其中套种南瓜3000亩，时下正值收获季节，该场套种南瓜喜获丰收。由于套种南瓜成规模、产量大，加上蜜本南瓜品质好，上市后吸引了大批北方及广东客商前来抢购。据统计，已丰收的3000亩南瓜每亩产量达1250公斤，总产达375万公斤，按目前保守收购价每公斤0.54元计，每亩比传统单种木薯、剑麻增收约675元，全场套种户共增收约187.5万元。
